Meeting the Needs of ALL Students!
Interpret a fraction as division of the numerator by the denominator (a/b = a ÷ b). Solve word problems involving division of whole numbers leading to answers in the form of fractions or mixed numbers, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem ( using Fraction Rules).
Issue a What’s My Location sheet to each student. Issue a set of the What’s My Location cards to each pair. Instruct students to mix the cards and place them face down in a stack. Have pairs take turns displaying a card. After a card is displayed, both students write the other two forms of the number. After students find all the forms, they then match each number with its location on the number line.
